BEWDLEY FESTIVAL (2007)

REDDITCH ADVERTISER (October, 2007)

The Bewdley Festival got off to a flying start with its Best of the Best 20th Anniversary Programme, as Elkie Brooks returned to a full house at Bewdley's Ramada Heath Hotel on Friday evening.

Elkie is renowned for being a stunning performer and this show was no exception, featuring a wide variety of songs from a repertoire that embraces pop, rock, ballads, blues and jazz.

Renditions of Lilac Wine, The Runaway and, of course, Pearl's A Singer - her very first hit from more than 30 years ago - proved that Elkie is still an artist at the height of her talent.

The set ended with a perfectly-performed We've Got Tonight, to rapturous applause - it's no surprise that Elkie is the biggest-selling female artist in the history of British pop charts, a fact now recognised by the Guinness Book of Records.

An amazing start to a very special Festival.
